Haut du Mont memorial garden work begins
Work has started on the memorial garden at Haut du Mont, which is in honour of the ten Islanders who died following the explosion on 10 December 2022. 

Changes to services and support for carers
The Minister for Social Security, Deputy Lyndsay Feltham, announced changes to services and support for carers and people with care needs. This follows a detailed review of Jersey’s benefit system, current services and support, as well as discussions with carers’ organisations.

Ministers take further action to protect children from online harms
The Council of Ministers is strengthening safeguards to protect children and young people from online harm. Ministers recognise public concerns and support in principle the idea of restrictions to limit the use of smartphones and social media in under-16s.

New Healthcare Facilities Meet the Buyer events
Following the announcement of Bouygues UK, BYUK, as the Preferred Tenderer for the Acute Hospital at Overdale, a series of Meet the Buyer events will be taking place on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 February at the Grand Hotel.

Jersey Library hosts World Cancer Day 2026 event
In recognition of World Cancer Day on Wednesday 4 February 2026, Islanders are invited to join the World Cancer Day, Connect Me event, taking place at the Jersey Library. This event is an opportunity for anyone affected by cancer, as well as for healthcare professionals, to come together to access valuable resources, information, and support.

Concerns raised over Proposition P.14/2026
Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning, Deputy Rob Ward issued a statement responding to Proposition P.14/2026, “Treating Children as Children”. He raised serious concerns about the proposition’s implications for safeguarding practice, professional integrity, and Jersey’s statutory frameworks.
