News this week… New EU Entry/Exit system, applications for civil celebrants open and Disability Inclusion Report published

This week, the Government of Jersey shared several strategic updates reflecting its commitment to public service, community wellbeing, and long-term development.

European Union Entry/Exit System
The Government explains the EU’s new Entry/Exit System (EES), which will affect how non-EU nationals, including Jersey residents, travel to the Schengen Area. Islanders are encouraged to stay informed and plan ahead for changes expected in 2025.

Civil Celebrants Applications Open
Applications are now open for Islanders who wish to become civil celebrants. This role allows individuals to officiate non-religious marriage and civil partnership ceremonies, supporting personal choice and inclusivity in Jersey’s celebration services.

Disability Inclusion Annual Report
The Disability and Inclusion Team published its 2023–24 Annual Report, outlining progress made in accessibility, awareness, and support services. The report also sets out future priorities to build a more inclusive Island.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month
As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Government is raising awareness of coercive control and encouraging Islanders to recognise the signs and seek support. Resources and guidance are available to help individuals and communities respond effectively.

Investing in Jersey and Winter Vaccination Programme
Progress continues on the Investing in Jersey plan, a proposed medium and long-term investment strategy supported by the Jersey Capital Investment Fund.
